Safeseas Symposium on Capacity Building for Maritime Security

Safeseas Symposium on Capacity Building for Maritime Security

The Safeseas Symposium is a first of its kind event. It will take stock of the past experience in maritime security capacity building and ask how it can be more efficiently delivered and coordinated. The high-level event is a meeting of representatives from countries benefitting from capacity building, representatives of actors engaged in capacity building and a range of practitioners active in maritime security projects. Oceans Beyond Piracy’s Regional Manager John Steed will chair the discussion on Capacity Building in Action: Lessons from Operational Experience at the event. Other speakers include H.E. Peter Thomson, United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for the Ocean and H.E. Barry Faure, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Government of Seychelles, former Chairman of the Contact Group on Piracy off the Coast of Somalia.
